Cities of Jaecr
A city of the Ressan, Baybarrow is home to humans and halflings alike. Its circular stone walls protect all its residents, as well as one of the main symbols of the city – the stalwart shoot, a tree which has grown in the center of the city since its founding. The Verdent Keep dominates the area, its construction a result of the alliance between the city and the druid’s group the Verdant Blade.
Fallshore is a small town in Jaecr, which has recently been getting more attention from surrounding settlements and travelers. It has started to grow from a small collection of buildings to a full city, all in a few months.
As you come to Ferriatia:
“You approach a heavy, iron-bound gate, pitted with the scars of many blades and bows. The dark wood itself seems to exude an aura of defiance. There is a small line of traders waiting to pass through, being checked one by one by several scowling guards. One tries to slip past, and is hoisted off his feet by a particularly gruff-looking elven guard. “I’ll have none of that!” As he throws him bodily to the side of the road. The other traders shuffle forward to fill the gap he left in the line. Passing through the guards, you notice them looking with particular disgust at Boson… and with particular interest at Calista. However, you are not stopped, and you walk through the gate onto the main road.
There is a cobblestone road running away from the gate. Moss fills the gaps between the stones, and wet green vines crawl through cracks of nearby buildings. The air is damp and chill. Dark-leaved trees hang over the street, as if too tired to raise their branches… or as if trying to claw at those below. The people trudge from place to place, many holding cloths over their heads. Others sit on the streets holding out battered cups and bowls, moaning an occasional plea for food or coin at passerby, with little success. There are a few in fine silks and fabrics, pushing halflings in front of them, laden with bags. One such halfling stumbles, spilling his load. The women behind him slaps him across the face, screaming of his incompetence. With hurried apologies, he gathers the bags back up, and hurries along in the direction they were originally traveling.
On the left of the path, a small sign stands, almost forgotten, worn with age and neglect: “Welcome to Ferriatia, the Emerald Star of the East – rest, weary traveler, for you have found a place to call home”"
Ferriatia, ruled by the elf Lixaf, is a city of the Irlyum, home to all manner of questionable practices, shifty morals, and heavy class systems. Sitting on the shores of a sea, it provides a hub for Irlyum activities in the area.
The Ressan city of Greyhurst sits on a mountainside, overlooking a stretch of unforgiving desert. It is inset into the mountain, which overhangs it slightly, casting the townsfolk in perpetual shadow. The city is surrounded by thick stone walls, and its sandy cobblestone streets allow day and night travel thanks to ever-burning torches along the streets. The Ivory Tower has a presence here, and the city is connected to the old underground highways of the dwarves.
The last intelligence indicates that Ironmoor has been completely destroyed. Melted buildings and burn marks are prevalent, and no one seems to be living there.
One of the few dwarven cities remaining, Khelesh is deep underground, built into the heart of the mountains. Many travel here to appreciate the masterful work of the dwarves, and visit the greatest remaining temple to Moradin. Travelers to more hostile places stop by the Hammer and Anvil to purchase items made by one of the best dwarven smiths, and those wanting to rest often stop at the Forge’s Fire tavern.
Vallion, once destroyed, is being rebuilt as the first primarily half-elf city. It has risen from the ruins to return as a major city of the world, supported by both the Ressan and the Radiant Servants of Pelor. The walls are well on their way to being complete, and people are already beginning their new lives.
